All our houseboats are equipped
with a single 3.0 liter (4 cylinder) inboard/outboard engine. You can
expect to burn three to four gallons of fuel per running hour. This
equates to around 100 gallons of fuel for a week-long cruise. Comparatively,
you'll use 8-10 gallons per hour per engine on houseboats with 2- cycle
outboards. The single 3.0 liter engine saves as much as 75% on your
fuel bill as compared to the two 2- cycle outboards.
We use "Onan" 5.5 kW
"Marquee" generators that burn only 3/4th of a gallon per
running hour. On average the generator is operated about 25 hours per
week, consuming only 18-20 gallons of fuel for the entire week.
Lake Roosevelt Vacations has eliminated
all 2-cycle outboards from its small craft fleet, thereby doing its
part in eliminating one of the most environmentally unfriendly engines
in the country.
We collect all "black"
and "gray" water from the bathrooms and galley to prevent
any contaminated water from being drained into Lake Roosevelt.
We do our part in keeping Lake
Roosevelt's environment user-friendly by recycling all used oil, solid
waste, and other potential hazardous materials.
Lake Roosevelt is a very clean water resource, and we do all we can
to support and maintain this aquatic reserve.
